Quality Assurance

The function of assuring that a product or service will satisfy given needs. The function includes necessary verification, audits, and evaluations of quality factors affecting the intended usage and customer satisfaction. This function is normally the responsibility of one or more upper management individuals overseeing the quality assurance program. 

Quality Characteristic

A distinguishing feature of a process. 

Quality Control

The process of maintaining an acceptable level of product quality. 

Quality Function

The function of maintaining product quality levels; i.e., the execution of quality control.

Quality Specifications

Particular specifications of the limits within which each quality characteristic of a product is to be maintained.
